Thank You Letter - To Mother Teresa

Of all the great individuals in the annals of history, one person stands out who is worthy of a thank you letter (from millions of admirers) for her contribution in teaching each of us the value of charity and self-sacrifice. This is an open letter to the respected Mother Teresa for embodying such simple but invaluable values. Although she will never read this, I trust that it will be "as good as received" if we continue to celebrate the memory of such a wonderful soul.

Dear Mother Teresa,
Your humble life, which you dedicated to helping others, has been a great example for me, which I have learned much from. You have instilled in me a greater appreciation of the idea of supporting people who are less fortunate than us.

In truth, in many of the charitable events I have participated in, you and the work you did were always in my thoughts. I believe that if many of us were to be more like you, in your selflessness, the world would be a much better place for a greater number of people.

Many individuals and groups have already sent numerous thank you letters to you when you were alive and even after your passing and I consider this one I'm sending you now a testament to the continual effect your life story has.

Aside from being such a great symbol of true charity in my life, through the work that you did, you taught me to appreciate and extend my compassion and affection to those in society who may be considered unwanted, unloved and even unnoticed. I have always been impressed with the numerous charities you have founded and it has inspired me to do my share, as much as I can, in my own community. You always reminded me that every individual deserves to be extended the same courtesy regardless of his or her social status or origins.

It is also from you I have learned of the joy of a life that is not complicated by material greed. Through you, I have learned to further appreciate that we should not go through life chasing after extravagances for there is peace to be found in simplicity. Always thankful for what we have in life.

Your messages of goodwill and humanitarianism have had a profound effect on me and the way I see the world. This is why I would like to send you this humble thank you letter. You have been a true light in this world and in the lives of many. There is no doubt in my mind that your message of love and charity will continue to live on.
